1. Switch to CFL Light Bulbs Today
If you review the ECA article on incandescent, CFL, & LED bulbs you will see how quickly a CFL bulb can pay itself off! There is no longer any reason to stick with incandescent bulbs unless you like to support your local power company.

2. Use a Programmable Thermostat (Don’t forget to program it!)
Did you know that proper use of a programmable thermostat can save you $180 a year? As a point of reference Energy Star provides these recommended settings. If you do not have a programmable thermostat, you can still follow the settings manually and save money! If you don’t mind doing a little intricate wiring Home Depot has a programmable thermostat for $20. At that price, the unit will be paid off in 45 days!

3. Get an Energy Audit
Energy audits will help you discover where your home or business can improve energy efficiency and realize substantial savings on your monthly electric and gas bills. Energy audit professionals can diagnose many issues such as poor insulation, drafty doors and windows, and improper ventilation quickly and efficiently.
